Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to score cheekiest goal of the season vs Newcastle United

Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to score one of the cheekiest goals of the season during Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese superstar nipped the ball away from Newcastle goalkeeper before putting the ball into the unguarded net.

Newcastle had a free-kick and Ronaldo was adamant that Pope had already taken it. However, referee Craig Pawson disallowed the goal and punished Man Utd’s No. 7 with a yellow card.

The question is: was Pawson right to disallow Ronaldo’s goal?

If Pope touched the ball, then technically it was live and in play. Ronaldo and his teammates was adamant that Pope had indeed touched the ball, hence why they played on.

But the referee sided with Pope and refused to allow Ronaldo’s cheeky goal to stand.
