Manchester United joined the race to sign Bayern Munich 26-year-old star

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to secure the services of Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has again been one of the key figures of Bayern Munich during the 2021-22 season, playing 27 games in all competitions.

French defender still has more than two years left to run on his current deal at Allianz Arena, however, there has recently been rumours surrounding his future, with the 26-year-old defender believed to be open to a new challenge.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devils are ready to strengthen their defensive end in the summer and Hernandez has been on top of their wishlist.

The report claims that El Classico giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping close tabs on the developments surrounding the Frenchman who is believed to be open to making a return to Spain where he started his career.

Hernandez, who missed the start of the 2021-22 season through injury, has played 89 games for Bayern since joining them in 2019.
