Fans spot Alejandro Garnacho ask Cristiano Ronaldo for permission to use his celebration after scoring his first Man Utd goal
Alejandro Garnacho asked Cristiano Ronaldo for permission to use his latest celebration after scoring his first goal for Manchester United.
Garnacho opening the scoring for United in their Europa League clash with Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
After being played through on goal by Ronaldo, Garnacho fired the visitors in front at the Anoeta Stadium.
In the process, he became United’s youngest ever non-English goal scorer in European football.
It was a huge moment for the 18-year-old, made even more special by Ronaldo’s involvement in the goal.
Garnacho had previously described it as a “dream” to play in the same team as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
After firing United in front against Sociedad, Garnacho decided to pay tribute to his teammate.
He replicated the same celebration that Ronaldo used after scoring the 700th goal of his career in a Premier League match against Everton last month.
Rather than using his trademark ‘Siu’ celebration, Ronaldo stood still after scoring and coldly locked his hands together while closing his eyes – almost as if he was meditating.

And fans have spotted the youngster asking Ronaldo for permission to use it.
In the clip, which you can watch below, Garnacho hugs Ronaldo and then asks him to use the celebration, to the delight of the Portuguese star.
United supporters were quick to react to the touching moment between Garnacho and Ronaldo.
“Whether you call him finished or not. You can’t deny that Ronaldo’s influence is unreal. He is an inspiration and motivation to young footballers and fans all over the world,” posted one fan on Twitter.
Another added: “Love the fact he asked Cristiano to do it.”

While a third wrote: “Dreams do come true.”
Garnacho’s goal would prove to be the winner, but the evening would end in disappointment for United.
Erik ten Hag’s side needed to win by more than one to secure top spot in the group.
After finishing second behind Sociedad, United will now go into the Europa League knockout phase, where they will play a two-legged tie against a team that has dropped down into the competition from the Champions League.
The Red Devils could now face the likes of Ajax, Barcelona and Juventus, with the draw for the knockout round to be held on Monday.
