Antony just couldn’t resist winding up Dan Bum & Newcastle in Man Utd’s Carabao Cup win
Manchester United have won their first trophy since 2016/17.
The Red Devils brought an end to six long years of hurt by beating Newcastle United 2-0 in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
A superb header from Casemiro and an unfortunate own goal by Sven Botman secured a much-needed piece of silverware for United.
Erik ten Hag deserves enormous amounts of praise for the way he’s masterminded the transformation we’re all seeing at Old Trafford.
A number of his players performed brilliantly against Newcastle, including summer arrival Antony.
The Brazilian has been criticised at times since joining from Ajax for around £85 million, but there’s no denying he was top-quality against Eddie Howe’s side.
Right at the end of the first half, Antony even managed to rattle Dan Burn and a number of other Newcastle players with his silky skills.
Antony rinsed Burn not once, but twice, and the fact he went back to humiliate the giant left-back again prompted Joelinton to step in.
The Newcastle man didn’t hold back with his tackle, before picking up a yellow card for a needless foul on another fellow countryman, Casemiro.

Yeah, Antony is a bit of a savage – and when he gets it right, those feet wind up the opposition to the max.
The Brazil international was taken off late in the second half and replaced by Jadon Sancho.
So Antony had to watch the end of the match from the touchline, but as soon as the final whistle sounded, he was on the pitch to celebrate.
And the young winger even shared a little dance with Ten Hag and Lisandro Martinez in front of the fans, three men who enjoyed success together at Ajax.
Unsurprisingly, the moment has gone viral on social media…

If you’re a United fan, you just love to see it!
So, after the Red Devils’ triumph in the Carabao Cup, there will be talks of a potential quadruple in Antony’s first season on English shores.
United hope to keep their FA Cup campaign alive by beating West Ham United on Wednesday, before attempting to stay in the Premier League title race when they travel to fierce rivals Liverpool next Sunday.
In the Europa League, a competition where they are favourites, Ten Hag’s side will lock horns with Real Betis in the last-16.
We may very well see another trophy lift from United in 2022/23…
