Antony misses Ajax pre-season training amid Man Utd transfer rumours
Ajax winger Antony was absent from the Netherland’s giants’ first pre-season training session last week amid rumours about possible move to Man Utd.
Brazil international forward has emerged as one of top transfer targets for the Red Devils since the arrival of Erik ten Hag’.
Alfred Schreuder has taken over at Ajax following Ten Hag’s Manchester move, and the 49-year-old has affirmed that he is keen to keep Antony at Johan Cruijff Arena at least one more year.
“We want to keep Antony at Ajax. He has a contract until 2025. I want to work with him, and the club knows this,” Schreuder told ESPN when questioned on the Brazilian’s future.
However, fuel was added to the fire surrounding the future of 22-year-old forward when the ex-Sao Paulo starlet did not appear on pre-season training on Friday.
The reason for Antony’s absence is currently unknown, however, it seems that player himself is pushing a transfer to Man Utd.
Antony arrive at Ajax for a £14.2m fee back in 2020, and the Brazil international has managed to found back of the net 22 times and provide 20 assists in 78 appearances for the Amsterdam giants over the past two seasons.
