Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid training and boards private jet amid new club search
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly no longer training with Real Madrid and has boarded a private jet to Dubai as he tries to find himself a new club.
The 37-year-old has spent the past two days at the Madrid’s training base as he continues to stay sharp after Portugal crashed out of the World Cup last weekend. Ronaldo was allowed to return to his former club, four-and-a-half years after he left Los Blancos to join Juventus in a deal worth around £80million.
But according to DAZN, Ronaldo has left Madrid and departed on a plane back to the Middle-East as rumours continue to circulate over a potential move for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. The forward has been without a club since last month after his Manchester United contract was terminated by mutual consent.
The Red Devils decided to let Ronaldo leave Old Trafford following his controversial outburst to Piers Morgan. During the interview, Ronaldo slammed the Glazers and admitted he doesn’t have any “respect” for Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman left him on the bench for their trip to Manchester City in October.
It then spiralled into a series of more events where Ronaldo and Ten Hag’s relationship started to fracture even more, and it hit boiling point when he refused to come on against Tottenham Hotspur. That was arguably the beginning of the end for Ronaldo, and now he is in search for a new club.
One interested party in Ronaldo’s services is supposedly Antero Henrique, head of the Qatar Stars League. Henrique is said to have gone straight to Ronaldo to enquire over a possible transfer to the gulf nation following Portugal’s exit from the World Cup. The veteran striker scored just once at the competition – a penalty in a 3-2 win over Ghana.
AS claim that he is hoping Ronaldo will join a Qatari club but Mendes is working on a different proposal. There has been reports that Ronaldo could be set to join Saudi Arabia giants Al-Nassr in a mouth-watering move on January 1.
Al-Nassr manager Rudi Garcia recently spoke of his excitement of possibly linking up with Ronaldo after the striker was linked with a move to the club. “I think that any coach would be delighted to train a great star like Cristiano and already in November 2021 I was very close to going to United,” Garcia told an interview with Diario AS.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly not interested in a move for Ronaldo. Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Blues do not want to sign the Portuguese star and ‘there are no ongoing negotiations’ between the two parties.
Newcastle are another Premier League team who have been linked with a move for Ronaldo, however, similarly it doesn’t look like the Magpies are keen. Eddie Howe said earlier this season: “We’re trying to provide long-term growth. At the moment, we have quite an ageing squad. We need to get the average age down, so it might not be a signing we’d necessarily look to make.”
