Cristiano Ronaldo set to stay at Old Trafford despite exit rumours
Premier League giants, Manchester United have reportedly won their battle to keep Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, at Old Trafford this summer despite exit talks.
Portugal international forward is believed to have told Man Utd at the start of July that he wants out from the club in order to play for a team that participates in the Champions League.
The 37-year-old forward has missed the pre-season tour of Australia and Thailand following to a personal issue, however, he has made a return to Carrington late last month and was involved in their final game against Rayo Vallecano for the pre-season.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus forward then featured off the bench in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League earlier last week, and he is now in contention to be in the starting lineup when the Red Devils face Bretford at the Gtech Community Stadium
According to AS, despite Ronaldo’s desire to leave, he is set to stay at Old Trafford for one more year.
The report suggests that Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid had emerged as genuine favourites for the Portugues forward in recent weeks, however, Diego Simeone’s side have now cooled their interest.
