Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans argue Man Utd star was ‘disrespected’ before he walked down tunnel
Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans believe their hero was ‘disrespected’ before he walked down the tunnel before the end of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday night.
The 37-year-old raised eyebrows by leaving the game before the match had finished.
Ronaldo was one of United’s substitutes on the night but went AWOL in the 90th minute.
It was otherwise hugely positive evening for Man Utd, who produced arguably their most impressive team performance so far under Erik ten Hag.
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to be at his best during the opening 45 minutes to prevent United taking the lead before half-time.
However, second-half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes wrapped up a deserved three points for the hosts.
What did Erik Ten Hag say about Cristiano Ronaldo?
Ten Hag was asked about Ronaldo’s decision to leave the game early in his post-match interview on Amazon Prime.
The Dutch coach said “I will deal with that tomorrow” while effectively confirming that Ronaldo hadn’t been granted permission to head back to the dressing room.

Ronaldo’s behaviour labelled ‘unacceptable’ on MOTD
Later on Wednesday evening, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards both condemned Ronaldo’s behaviour on Match of the Day, labelling his actions “unacceptable”.

Was Ronaldo ‘disrespected’ during Man Utd 2-0 Spurs?
However, Ronaldo’s loyal fans believe that Ten Hag must shoulder some of the blame in this scenario.
An image from the 87th minute shows Ronaldo looking on glumly as Ten Hag sent on Anthony Elanga instead of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner

Ronaldo was in an orange bib at the time, suggesting he’d been instructed to warm up, but it was Elanga who replaced Jadon Sancho in the closing minutes.
Ten Hag also sent Christian Eriksen on in place of Casemiro and had earlier withdrawn Antony for Scott McTominay.
Let’s check out some of the reaction from Ronaldo’s fans on social media:
Ten Hag really told Cristiano Ronaldo to warm up and ended up leaving him on the bench.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo leave Man Utd in January?
While Ronaldo should have stayed put until full-time, it must be tough for one of the greatest footballers of all time to a) be a substitute in the first place, and b) watch certain players get off the bench ahead of him.
Ronaldo wanted to leave Old Trafford in the summer and it now seems certain that he’ll be doing all he can to engineer a move away from the club in January.
Unless the situation suddenly changes, it looks set to be a sad end to his Man Utd tenure.
