Fans think Harry Maguire ignored the Glazers before Man Utd’s Carabao Cup trophy lift

Harry Maguire has won his first trophy as a professional footballer.

The Manchester United captain lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium after the team’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United.

A header from Casemiro and an own goal from Sven Botman saw the Red Devils collect a first piece of silverware in six years.

Maguire only played a cameo role in the final after replacing Marcus Rashford very late on in the second half, but that probably won’t bother him too much given the eventual scoreline.

He’ll now have bragging rights over England teammate Harry Kane, who’s yet to win a piece of silverware at any level professionally.

This season may very well prove to be Maguire’s last at United – and it’s probably for the best given the fact Erik ten Hag would rather use Luke Shaw as centre-back over him.

But at least Maguire will leave with one trophy to his name and before lifting it, the defender made himself a little more popular with the United faithful.

What did he do? Well, the former Leicester City man appeared to ignore a member of the Glazer family, who made a rare appearance for a United game.

Now, in case you’ve been living under a rock the past few decades, you’ll know that Avram Glazer isn’t exactly in the fans’ good books.

United supporters chanted “we want Glazers out” on numerous occasions during the final itself.

They even held up a sign right in front of the American…

As such, Maguire’s perceived ‘airing’ of one of the team’s current owners has gone down VERY well indeed…

We obviously can’t say for certain that Maguire ignored his bosses, but it looks to be the case judging solely from the footage above.

Here’s how some United fans have reacted on social media…

What’s that you can hear? Maguire’s popularity rising, that’s what!

United and their captain will not have long to celebrate their Carabao Cup triumph, though.

The hectic schedule continues when they host West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday.

After the Old Trafford clash, Ten Hag and his troops make the short trip to Merseyside for a must-win derby against Liverpool on the Sunday.
