Footage of Bruno Fernandes meeting Cristiano Ronaldo for World Cup duty is pretty awkward

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 90 minute interview with Piers Morgan really is the hot topic of discussion right now.

In the sit down session, which will be fully released in two parts on Wednesday and Thursday, the forward has taken aim at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag, Ralf Rangnick, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and the Glazers are just some of the people who’ve been criticised by Ronaldo in the short clips that have so far been made available to the public.

It’s highly unlikely that Ronaldo will ever play for United again as a result, with Chelsea reportedly one of the teams that could make a move for him in January. The Blues expressed their interest in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back in the summer as well.

Fortunately for those in power at United, they will have more time to deal with the fallout from the interview due to the start of the Qatar World Cup winter break.

Premier League clubs will not return to playing duty until the end of next month, with the first round of league fixtures after the domestic sabbatical scheduled to start on December 26th.

But while Ronaldo is away from Manchester for a while (well, depending on how Portugal do at the World Cup), he will still not be able to escape some of his United colleagues.

Both Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot are part of Fernando Santos’ official 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup.

And when Fernandes joined up with the Portugal players on Monday, he appeared to have a rather awkward exchange with Ronaldo in the dressing room.

There was a handshake between the pair, but the look on Ronaldo’s face suggests not all was well between them…

It certainly seemed a bit frosty, didn’t it?

Unsurprisingly, the footage went viral on social media late Monday evening, with various football fans reacting to it.

Portugal fans will be praying there is no bad blood there, as Ronaldo and Fernandes are key to the country’s World Cup hopes.

The Euro 2016 winners have never won the tournament and have been drawn into a very tough group.

If Portugal are to make it to the knockout rounds, they will have to get past Uruguay, South Korea and Ghana.

Sure, the European nation are the favourites to progress, but none of those games look easy on paper. Especially with the Ronaldo drama hanging over the team…
