Karim Benzema claims Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t sent him a message after Ballon d’Or win
Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t congratulated Karim Benzema after he picked up the Ballon d’Or last month.
The French striker got his hands on the award for the very first time, with Ronaldo finishing in 20th.
However, according to Benzema himself, his former Real Madrid teammate still hasn’t sent him a message following his victory
Appearing on French TV’s Telefoot, Benzema sat down with reporter Fred Calenge.
During the interview with the Ballon d’Or sitting proudly between them, Calenge asked Benzema whether Ronaldo had sent him a nice little congratulatory message.
Rather surprisingly, Benzema admitted he hadn’t.
Calenge: “Cristiano Ronaldo, did he send you a nice little message after your Ballon d’Or?”
Benzema: “No, I haven’t had it yet.”
Calenge: “Not cool.”
Benzema: “Be quiet (laughs).”

Benzema and Ronaldo played together at Real Madrid for nine seasons, dominating Spanish and European football during an incredible era. Ronaldo also won four Ballon d’Ors during that time with Benzema very much playing a supporting role.
In fact, there’s a viral image of Benzema in the background of Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez picking up awards while at Real Madrid.
The most selfless player.
However, it seems Ronaldo isn’t quite as happy for Benzema as Benzema was for him all those years ago.
Will Benzema be fit for the World Cup?
Benzema has missed the last couple of matches for Real Madrid with many believing he was simply being rested ahead of France’s World Cup.
He’s now admitted he’s been suffering from a few ‘niggles’
“I had a few minor niggles, nothing serious,” Benzema said on Amazon Prime.
“There’s still time between now and 22 November [France’s World Cup opener against Australia]. I’ll be in good shape, physically and mentally ready.
“It’s magnificent. Thanks to my club Real Madrid, who allowed me to make my dream come true, and to Lyon, my team when I was growing up. It’s my city. To see all these people and the fans is extraordinary.
“Every match will be a final. We have a very good group, we’re going to take it match by match.”
