Man United joined the race to sign Barcelona’s 17-year-old midfielder
Premier League giants, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man Utd are among a number of elite European teams who are keeping tabs on Gavi’s contract situation at Barcelona, according to a report.
The 17-year-old playmaker, who has established himself as a first-team regular this campaign, will see his current contract at Nou Camp expire in June 2023.
While the Catalan giant’s president Joan Laporta has suggested that deal renewals for both Ronald Araujo and Gavi are not close at present, head coach Xavi told the media earlier last week that it is only “a matter of time”before the promising youngsters extend their contracts.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Creative Spanish midfielder is keen to remain with Barcelona, however, talks between the player’s agents and the club are “stuck”, which has alerted a number of top European clubs.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd along with PSG and Bayern Munich are all interested in the midfielder, while the report claims that the Citizens are not in the race for his services.
Gavi is believed to have a €50m release clause in his current deal, which will be increased to €100m on July 1.
