Man Utd considering to demolish Old Trafford
Manchester United could reportedly decide to demolish Old Trafford in favour of a new arena as part of plans to revamp their home stadium..
The 20-times English champions have played their home games at Old Trafford for 112 years since its opening in 1910, however, the 75,000-seater stadium has not undergone any major work for the years.
The Old Trafford capacity was expanded to 75,000 in 2006 in the last major refurbishment.
According to The Guardian, the red Devils have considered the option of demolishing their home ground and building a brand new pitch on the same site, however, such a move is highly unlikely.
The report adds that fan backlash and concern over where the 20-times English champions would play their home games while the new stadium is under development makes the idea unfeasible, and the team will continue to consult with their fans before a final decision is made.
The Red Devils are yet to lose a Premier League match at Old Trafford when winning at half time – winning 278 and drawing 23 such games after a 3-2 win against the Spurs.
