Marcus Rashford scores Man United’s winner after being dropped by Erik ten Hag

Marcus Rashford starred as he came off the bench to score Manchester United’s match-winner against Wolves on Saturday.

Rashford was dropped by Erik ten Hag for the Premier League clash at Molineux despite producing a brilliant performance against Nottingham Forest.

He was axed from the starting XI for an ‘internal disciplinary’ reason, but entered the fray at half-time with the game goalless.

And he didn’t disappoint as he scored a brilliant goal in the 76th minute after linking up expertly with Bruno Fernandes.

Rashford picked up the ball from the left wing and drove at Wolves’ backline. He played a splendid one-two with Fernandes, who pierced a delightful into his path.

From there, the England international showed off his strength before finding the back of the net with a tidy right-footed finish.

Speaking before kick-off, Ten Hag explained his decision behind leaving Rashford on the bench.

He said: “Internal disciplinary. No details. Our rules. Now focus on the game. He is in very good form and no-one can play all the games.”

The 1-0 victory lifts Man United back into the top four in the table, with 32 points on the board.

As for Rashford, he has now scored 11 goals in 22 games in all competitions this season.

He’s enjoying a prolific term having scored just five goals last season.

Luke Shaw, who kept a second clean sheet at centre-back, praised Rashford following the result.

“When you’ve got someone like Marcus Rashford to come on in the second half, you know there’s a goal coming,” he told BT Sport.
