Raphael Varane showed a completely different side to his game in viral moment v Everton

Manchester United reached the fourth round of the FA Cup after defeating Everton on Friday evening.

The Red Devils went into the match at Old Trafford high on confidence.

And they showed why they were favourites to reach the next round after Antony opened the scoring in the 4th minute.

United weren’t ahead for long, though, with Conor Coady levelling the scores 10 minutes after profiting from a David de Gea howler.

United re-took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Coady prodded the ball into his own net.

And The Red Devils ensured their place in the next round when Marcus Rashford netted from the penalty spot deep into stoppage-time.

United’s defence has been extremely solid in recent times.

In fact, Coady’s goal was the first that they have conceded since November 13.

Raphael Varane has played a key role in United’s solid defence.

The Frenchman, signed for £34 million in August 2021, has been brilliant under Erik ten Hag this season.

Varane has been likened to a Rolls Royce by United fans due to his defensive capabilities and his technical ability.

And he showed exactly why vs Everton as he expressed a completely different side to his game in one moment.

Varane found himself in the corner and under pressure from Idrissa Gueye in the 36th minute.

Most centre-backs wouldn’t dare try and take on their opponent in that situation.

But Varane is no normal centre-back.

The Frenchman knocked the ball past the Everton man and left him in the dust. The moment has gone viral on social media having picked up over 1.8k retweets and you can view it below…

Gueye was left floundering. It was as if he didn’t expect Varane to try and beat him.

What next for Manchester United?

United are next in action when they take on Charlton Athletic in their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash on January 10.

The Red Devils will be looking for a victory as they bid to end their trophy drought this season.

United then host their fierce rivals, Manchester City, in their Premier League clash four days later.
