Scott McTominay’s highlights v Ireland emerge – Man Utd fans think Ten Hag has transformed him
Manchester United and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay has been busy silencing his critics in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old received more than his fair share of criticism under the management of both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season.
Some of his performances were poor last term, but certainly not all of them – and he wasn’t the only United player who struggled to hit top gear prior to Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford.
After Man Utd suffered a 2-1 defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend of the season, McTominay was dropped for the following game against Brentford.
By half-time, with a midfield partnership of Fred and Christian Eriksen, United were 4-0 down. McTominay was sent on for Fred at the start of the second half and no further goals were conceded.
He’s started every game since, even keeping £70 million signing Casemiro out of the Red Devils’ starting line-up on occasions.
It seems that Ten Hag has joined Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer and Rangnick in becoming a McTominay fan.
Another coach who rates McTominay highly is Scotland boss Steve Clarke.
And in both of Scotland’s two UEFA Nations League games in the past few days, against Ukraine and the Republic of Ireland, McTominay has impressed.
United fans are praising Ten Hag for the impact he’s had on McTominay after watching the midfielder’s eye-catching individual highlights against Ireland on Saturday.

Some great tackles, touches, an assured calmness in possession, a desire to fly forwards, playing first-time passes through the lines and, if all that wasn’t enough, he even played his part in Scotland’s winning goal by getting the penalty.
This is the McTominay that United fans want to see week-in, week-out at Old Trafford.
Let’s check out some of the best reaction from Reddit:
McTominay expected to start for Man Utd v Man City
McTominay will miss Scotland’s next fixture against Ukraine on Tuesday night through suspension; however that is likely to be music to Ten Hag’s ears.
Man Utd face Manchester City next Sunday and McTominay will now have a few extra days to recover.
Fifth-placed United are currently five points behind second-placed City but are currently on a four-match winning streak.
Defeating Pep Guardiola’s revered side at the Etihad Stadium would be a massive statement of intent from McTominay and his United teammates
