Speed travels from America to watch and meet Cristiano Ronaldo, he didn’t play, he was at home

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t in Manchester United’s squad in the Carabao Cup vs Aston Villa, which is terrible news for YouTuber Speed.

Whilst many inside the ground on Thursday night will be gutted not to see their footballing hero, that’s especially galling for American social media star Speed.

He shot to fame in the football world following his appearance for the YouTuber Allstars, in their game vs Sidemen FC in September, with fans finding it hilarious when he confused manager Mark Goldbridge with the actual United boss.

The teenager is a huge Ronaldo fan, and Jesse Lingard has even claimed that the five time Ballon d’Or winner knows who Speed is, following an Adidas advert where Ronaldo may or may not have confirmed as much.

The American decided to head to Manchester to see his idol and is in the north west of England tonight, but he’s been left devastated by the news that Ronaldo isn’t in the squad.

You can see in the video below just how much it meant to the YouTuber to see the 37-year-old play, as he says on the way to the game that Ronaldo is ‘the person he loves the most.’

Ronaldo completed a total 180 in fortunes at Old Trafford at the weekend, when he led out Erik ten Hag’s in the Premier League game with Villa.

It meant he’d gone from being dropped completely, after refusing to come on against Tottenham Hotspur, to starting as captain in a matter of weeks.

Things didn’t go well however, with Ten Hag’s side losing 3-1 to Unai Emery’s team, in the Spaniard’s first game in charge since taking over, following Steven Gerrard’s sacking.

Now, just after being called up for Portugal’s World Cup squad, Ronaldo is missing from the squad completely, against the same team but in the cup, thanks to an illness.

That means there’s no chance of Speed, or anyone else inside the ground, seeing him play even a minute, with Anthony Martial returning to the starting line up.

The YouTuber took to social media to share just how gutted he was at the news, having earlier been on the streets of the city asking passers by where Ronaldo was.

It wasn’t all bad news for the social media star, who got to meet United legend Paddy Crerand, a European Cup winner during his time with the club, as he sat in a box.

Along with that, Speed also appeared on television for a moment, with the Sky Sports cameras panning to him ahead of kick off.

With no big screen inside Old Trafford, he was only able to spot himself thanks to the television screens inside the box he was in.

As well as showing off his ability on the pitch, during the charity YouTubers game, in which he snapped KSI, has been making a name for himself off the pitch.

With the World Cup just over a week away, the 17-year-old has brought out his own unofficial song for the tournament in Qatar.

During the ‘banger,’ which is simply titles ‘World Cup,’ the social media star raps about Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s rivalry, which could end in the final.

He’ll be paying extra attention to the World Cup, after making a huge bet with KSI, which will see him bag £100,000 if Ronaldo does win it for the first time.
