Wouth Werghorst was visibly emotional after hearing Man Utd fans sing his song at full-time
Manchester United fans serenaded Wout Weghorst following the final whistle after he scored his first goal at Old Trafford.
Weghorst scored in Man United’s 4-1 win over Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday.
He completed the scoring in the 82nd minute and cut a hugely emotional figure amid his ‘This Is Anfield’ sign mishap at Liverpool last weekend.
The towering forward looked visibly emotional after finding the back of the net in what was just his second goal for the club since arriving on loan in January.
And after the final whistle, the 30-year-old soaked up the atmosphere, with Man United supporters chanting “We love Weghorst, we do” in a wholesome moment.

Fans online are convinced Erik ten Hag should snap him up on a permanent deal when the transfer window opens in the summer.
One Twitter user wrote: “There are certain players that you just can’t help but love and respect, even if they aren’t performing in the best way possible. Weghorst is one of those players for me.”
A second tweeted: “I had my reservations earlier, but now I’d boldly say, ETH should sign him and Sabi on permanent deals to strengthen the squad depth. Wout especially, he embodies the batch and fights for it at every chance possible.”
A third added: “And just like that, I’d sign him for £5-10 million in the summer.”
A fourth said: “This man deserves all the appreciation for his dedication. Gives everything for the badge!”
Another commented: “Thing you love to see. His work rate is second to none. Unlucky not to get his goal consistently but we are playing well with eth system since his arrival.”
Weghorst has added an option for Ten Hag, who has been without Cristiano Ronaldo following his departure and Anthony Martial, who has been unable to stay fit.
While he hasn’t scored many goals for Man United, his hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed with Paul Scholes praising the Dutchman.
“I think he was slightly pleased with his goal,” he joked on BT Sport. “I think he’s been waiting for that.
“I think everyone at the club is pleased for him. The players around him.
“You could see how happy people were for him. He does do a lot of hard work, and work that probably goes unseen. You can see the players around him appreciate him.”
