Zinedine Zidane reveals reason why he refused to sign for Man Utd
Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has explained that he has ruled himself out of the managerial role at Old Trafford following the language barrier.
The 50-year-old tactician has been out of work since departing from La Liga giants, Real Madrid last year and was subsequently linked with a switch to Old Trafford after the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Reports at the time claimed that Frenchman was not interested and now the Red Devils have appointed Erik ten Hag on a permanent basis.
Now, three times Champions League-winning manager has confirmed why exactly he refused to join Man Utd.
‘Would I want to go to Manchester [United]? I understand English, but I’m not completely fluent in it,’ Zidane told L’Equipe.
‘I know that there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language, but I work in a different way. Many elements come into play in order to win, it is a global context. I know what I need to win.’
Zidane has only ever managed one club, winning two La Liga titles and three consecutive Champions Leagues over his two spells at Real, and also added that there were only, ‘two or three possibilities’, in terms of other clubs he would manage.
